On Wednesday, November 13, as one door is soon to close, another door has opened for one of our student athletes, senior Kaitlin Gould. As she sets up for her big moment, she is anxious and nervous for this huge change that is bound for her.
Gould is a three-year, varsity lacrosse player at West, and a four-year club player. She has been playing club ball since summer before her freshman year. She started lacrosse playing for her first club ball team, Wildtide, under head coach, Rebecca Allen. After playing with Wildtide until her junior fall season, she decided to move and play for Coastal Rays in Wilmington for her last club season.
As she has played a total of 10 seasons of lacrosse, she has been looking for the place she will be playing her next four seasons with. After many prospect camps, tournaments, and showcases, and having interest in several other colleges, the stress of trying to find a college that best fits her is no more existent. Mid-way through her junior year, Gould finally set and locked eyes on Davis & Elkins, in Virginia.
November 13 marks the day that her decision is finalized. Her signing took place in the new field house at four o’clock. Attending her signing, she had her family, former coaches, close friends, former teammates, active teammates, and even her roommate for college.
Head coach, Jim Hart, began the signing by speaking on behalf of Gould. After a few minutes of speaking it was time for her to sign. With only a few movements of her pin, it was official. She was officially going to be senator and is officially continuing her academic and athletic career for four more years at Davis & Elkins.
