Avery Babson is a 16-year-old Junior from Shallotte, North Carolina. This is her third semester in the West Wind, and she enjoys writing, photography and broadcasting. She also loves cereal, Lana Del Rey and the Beach.
“Going to the beach is very therapeutic,” said Babson. “I love just laying on the sand, getting tan and reading a nice book.”
Babson is in DECA, Key Club and Book Club. Babson has been in DECA for two years to help her gain the experience for her future plans.
“I am enrolled in BCC and will get my associates degree the summer after I graduate, so I can transfer to a four year college,” said Babson. “Once I head off to college, I plan on majoring in business.”
Babson’s favorite subject in school is English. In her free time, you can find her reading a book, going on a walk or playing with her dog, Cooper. Babson first discovered journalism class last year; she took interest in it because she enjoyed writing, and covering news articles.
“I have changed a lot over the past few semesters,” said Babson. “Don’t get me wrong, I still love writing, but I have found that I also enjoy broadcasting and interviewing people.”
