It’s that time of year again when football fans from everywhere take their guesses on who will make it to the most important game of the year, the Super Bowl. Let’s see who the top contenders are and the predictions for this big game.
Everyone has their opinions on who will bring home the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Many factors can help determine who the winner will be like the team’s offense, defense, and regular season performances. Some choose teams based on rivalries, fan alliances, or favorite players. As of now, the four teams favored to advance into the playoffs are the Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Baltimore Ravens. If the Chiefs win this year’s game they will make NFL history by winning three consecutive Super Bowls. The Lions have had one of their most successful seasons in years, possibly advancing to the Super Bowl for the first time in their franchise history.
Coaches and students have given their own predictions for this year’s big game.
“I think that Buffalo, Baltimore, Detroit, and Philadelphia all have a pretty good chance,” said former basketball coach Kevin Holland. “I would be fine if someone other than Kansas City made it. They’ve been there a while now. Although I really like them, I’d rather see somebody who hasn’t been in [the Super Bowl] like Detroit.”
Senior Garrett Powell, the cornerback on our football team, has also had some very interesting takes on who will make it this year.
“I think the Ravens and Lions will probably get there,” said Powell. “Before the Steelers lost out, my pick was them, but they’re already gone.”
As of now, many analysts this year predict a rematch of the Super Bowl LVII between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. The Chiefs are a very talented offensive team with Patrick Mahomes as the star Quarterback. The Eagles have the best defense in the NFL this year and have allowed the fewest points scored against them. Remember anything can happen on Super Bowl Sunday that’s what makes it the most exciting game of the season. Let’s see who takes it all this year.
