Macie Coley is a senior this year. Coley was born in Wilmington, North Carolina but was raised in Calabash. She grew up with two siblings, in a small town but had a very happy childhood. Coley is a 17 year old student-athlete, she is active in many extracurricular activities, including lacrosse, SGA, HOSA, DECA, and FCA. Coley is the Vice President of HOSA, and an officer in SGA.
“I love playing lacrosse, it’s like my happy place,” said Coley. “Lacrosse has been a part of my life for 6 years and I can’t imagine my life without it.”
Coley has signed with a 4-year college in Wilson, North Carolina to play lacrosse, and is planning to major in business. Coley plans to attend Barton College for 4 years. She thinks being a student-athlete will be a good way to keep her on track with getting good grades and to help her flourish as a student-athlete. Coley plans to come back home and take over her moms business after college. She plays lacrosse in Chapel Hill during the high school off-season.
“I spend my time during the summer in Chapel Hill playing for a club lacrosse team,” said Coley. “I’ve played with Carolina 91 for 2 seasons and I drive up every weekend to play.”
Coley has been part of the journalism program for 4 semesters and is the broadcast director. She enjoys writing and photography, and her favorite part of the class is doing event coverages. Coley is directing the broadcast program this year and is excited to develop and produce an exciting news broadcast.
“My sister was a part of The West Wind and it inspired me to follow in her footsteps,” said Coley. “This semester I’m hoping to further our broadcast and make a well-developed team.”
