On May 14th, the tradition continued as seniors arrived at school ready to walk the halls in their cap and gowns, saying their goodbyes to friends and teachers before they go onto future endeavors.
“The senior walk was so bittersweet,” said senior Hailey Schiffer. “Seeing the little kids who are just starting their journey look up at us who are finished. So amazing.”
The seniors started their day heading to their former elementary and middle schools. Little kids lined the halls and they waved hello and goodbye to the seniors. Seniors got a chance to see their former teachers and reminisced as they walked through their old hallways.
After finishing up at the elementary and middle school they headed back to West. They walked the same halls that they had for the past four years but this time it was different. They saw new and old friends, teachers they have had the past for years, and other staff lined up in the halls. As they turned each corner there was a new face, an old memory, and a final ending to their last four years of high school.
“Walking through West for the last time in my cap and gown was a surreal feeling,” said senior Paige Walker. “It made me think about my memories from the last 4 years.”
On June 3rd the seniors will officially walk the stage and be handed their diplomas. Each student will then go on to a new adventure. Some will head to college, others to trade school, the military, or straight to work. While each plan might look different for the seniors they will be leaving West Brunswick with the best of wishes from students and staff.
