With prom coming right around the corner, the past week our fellow teachers and students have been participating in spirit week. On Thursday, April 30, the theme was “Color Wars.” Every grade was assigned a certain color to wear. The hallways were filled with vibrant colors as each student represented their grade with matching shirts.
Since every grade was assigned a specific color to wear, freshmen were expected to wear white, sophomores were expected to wear green, juniors were expected to wear black, and seniors were expected to wear a WBHS shirt.
Color Wars has always been a classic spirit week theme. This tradition has always been a favorite because of how simple it is to join in, so you don’t miss out on the fun with your friends and classmates. Even though themes may change over the years, Color Wars will always be a fun, classic tradition that our fellow students and staff keep going and look forward to doing each year.
“It was a little difficult to participate in other days for spirit week since I had no time to go out and look for specific things to wear,” said sophomore Amy Dominguez. “But for Color Wars, I just had to put a simple color on and wear a basic outfit, so it wasn’t really as hard.”
Many students enjoyed participating in the Color Wars theme because it was one of the easiest spirit week themes to join, rather than the other themes this week that may have required going out and buying certain costumes or accessories.
“Prom week is always the best week because the entire week is spirit week, and it doesn’t feel like a regular school week,” said junior Julissa Lujano. “After school ends that Friday, we have prom on Saturday. The whole week was very fun and entertaining, and I got to match outfits with some of my friends. I think spirit weeks are what I always look forward to when a new school year starts.”
As prom is approaching, spirit week was very much needed to keep the excitement and motivation for prom. Spirit week gave students a week to relax and have something to look forward to when coming to school. Many students enjoyed participating with their friends and showing off their school spirit throughout the days.
