As the basketball season has begun, the Trojans haven’t had the start they hoped for losing to Hoggard 47–31 and starting conference play with a 0–1 record. Despite the loss, the Trojans showed lots of growing potential, especially on the defensive end, where their effort and communication improved as the game went on. Several players stepped into great roles, encouraging teammates and pushing the pace even when the point didn’t go their way.

The Trojans now turn their attention to a challenging match up against New Hanover on January 9th. With high energy from the student section and a strong team mentality, the Trojans are hoping this game will be a turning point in their season and a chance to earn their first conference win. The atmosphere is expected to be very high making this the first home game of the season, with fans packing the gym and bringing energy from the start of the game. The loud fans and environment could give the Trojans a bit of confidence, having a home-court advantage and making it difficult for New Hanover to find their rhythm.  

The Trojans have had an overall well-rounded season this year and have shown a lot of passion throughout this basketball season. West has been overall a very solid team and has shown a lot of improvement throughout this basketball season so far. They have consistently brought  energy, effort, and a positive attitude. 

Alongside players such as Jerrison Dixon, Kveon Griffin has shown strong chemistry on the court and works well within the team system. Kveon contributes by making smart plays, communicating on defense, and encouraging his teammates. Throughout the season, he has helped create scoring opportunities, played great, and remained focused in key moments. Kveon is currently averaging 14 points per game this season and continues to improve as a reliable and hardworking player for the team. Many other teammates such as Jerrison has shown a real impact being new to the team putting himself forward in contact. His averaging 12 points per game and being a great team player, in big moments when did making him a very good and humble player.
