On Friday May 8th, something very special took place in the auxiliary gym at the school. Thanks to the planning and setting up from Mrs. Dooley and her leadership class all of the life skills classes were able to have their own prom during school. They invited anyone who wanted to come support, along with club Unify, the adaptive PE class, and many of the students parents also joined.
That morning the kids arrived at school and during second period they began to get ready. The adaptive PE class helped the girls do their hair, nail, and make up, while the boys put on their suits and fixed their hair, to ensure they felt their best for their special day.
While the leadership class spent all morning setting up the gym, running around to stores gathering all the extra supplies needed, and making sure everything was perfect for the kids.
Once it was finally time all the classes began making their way to the gym, egar to enjoy the fun. Once everyone got there they began to eat and enjoy all the snacks, pizza, and beverages provided, and many taking pictures at any of the multiple photo back drops. Then it was finally time to hit the dance floor. Everyone joined in and danced, no matter their ability everyone had fun together.
After everyone got to dance and enjoyed themselves for a while they then announced the prom king and queen. Jax won prom king, and Ellen won prom queen, they were crowned and got sashes while everyone cheered for them.
After they announced king and queen everyone danced for a little while more and soaked up the last few moments of fun before it was time to go. Once it was over the leadership class worked hard to clean everything up along with help from a few others.
