Olivia Dean is quickly taking over the radio. Dean is a London native and was born March of 1999. Dean had her first album released in 2023 called “Messy” and then recently released her sophomore album called “The Art of Loving”. The album came out on September 26, 2025 and soon after, many began to hum along to the tune and dance to the exhilarating beat.
“She is a newer artist, but her music is really amazing and fun to listen to,” said senior Kaylin Gore. “Man I Need is for sure my favorite.”
“Man I Need” quickly became one of her more favored songs. It reached number one on the UK’s single’s chart and number five on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. Lyrics like, “…Already know I can’t leave it alone, You’re on my mind,” the repetition of “Come be the man I need” and the upbeat tempo quickly allowed for this song to take over the minds of many, especially through the utilization of TikTok.
“Honestly, TikTok, ” said senior Ella Ranson when asked how she found her music. “It really boosted her music and made her more popular.”
An app known for taking burgeoning artists to the next level, “Man I Need” grew on TikTok just from people singing and dancing to the beat. I’ve Seen It also become a trend, people posted their loved one or things they find gratification in. Not only is her music fun to listen to or see on TikTok, it is also connecting people through heavy, relatable, emotional lyrics.
“I think her music is very authentic,” said junior Grace Migliore. “I think the emotional aspect behind it is what makes her music so appealing.”
Dean’s music is also talking a big hit in many people’s hearts. Her strong lyrics and the way she talks about love, emotions and just life in general has captivated many. People in or out of relationships could connect to her songs, even when just thinking about friendships, her songs preach the ideas of love and romanticizing life.
“Personally I like her soulful music,” said Migliore. “And well that’s what her music is–very soulful and emotional.”

“Her songs are nice and upbeat,” said junior Evagelia Stathos. “As a dancer I love to listen to and dance to her songs.”
