Emely Olmedo, Editor in Chief
Emely Olmedo is a 17-year-old senior who is currently in her fifth semester of journalism. Olmedo was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, and was raised in Ocean Isle Beach. Olmedo loves to spend her free time spending money, going to Starbucks, the beach, and being around her friends.
“One of my favorite things to do is going to Starbucks and doing some shopping right after,” said Olmedo. “It’s always a nice combo to do with a friend.”
Olmedo was introduced to The West Wind when she was interviewed her freshman year. Once she joined journalism for the first time, her interest only grew. Journalism has given her the opportunity to create lifelong friendships and has allowed her to grow within her creative outlet.
“I thought The West Wind was pretty cool and I just knew that I wanted to be a part of it,” said Olmedo. “I love this class, I love the environment and I’m so sad it’s my last year to be a part of this.”
