Cecelia Torres, Staff Writer

Cecilia Torres is a 16-year-old sophomore who is now taking her first semester of journalism. Torres was born in Wilmington where she then moved to Ash. Torres has a love for her family where she cherishes their love for her and her parents willingness to give up things so she can thrive.

“I love my family so much,” said Torres. “They do everything for me and show me how I should live my life. I have three older brothers and they can be annoying but they are always there for me no matter what.”

Torres is unsure as to what she wants to do career-wise. As of now, Torres’ plan is to get her undergraduate degree at a local university then go to Cape Fear Community College and get her cosmetology license. If Torres could describe herself in three words, they would be: witty, empathetic, and introverted.

“I am witty because I make my friends laugh and sometimes myself,” said Torres. “I am empathetic because I always feel for other people: I understand my friends if they are going through something, and I am introverted because I don’t like to speak in front of people, and I like being alone and in my own mind.”
