On March 24th, 2018 there was a school safety and gun control march in Washington D.C. highlighting the recent tragedy of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting in Parkland, Florida, as well as other shootings. West Brunswick’s India Garrison attended this march in support of gun control.

“I strongly support gun control because it’s important for students and anyone in that matter to feel safe,” India said. “I want everyone to feel safe.”

India hopes that these marches not only shine a light on gun control but also stop these events and prevent other catastrophes from happening. India believes that younger people develop opinions and begin advocating their rights so a difference can be made.

“They are discovering what they believe is right or wrong,” India said. “ Such as this–you see all these people gathering for a peaceful march to protest their own ideas on how to make the world a safer place for everyone.
