The Clabash Christmas Parade brought the town together with a night full of holiday activities, even though the weather didn’t cooperate. The night was cold and wet, but that didn’t stop families, kids, and locals from coming out to enjoy one of the town’s favorite traditions. People waited along the streets for the first lights of the parade.
When the parade finally began, the energy picked up. Decorated floats drove along the street, music played from a tent near the tree, and Christmas lights shone through the rain. One of the biggest highlights was the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus. Santa welcomed the crowd and spoke to the children after everyone sang Christmas carols. Even with the weather, it was a great time filled with Christmas cheer.
The parade’s lineup included: Calabash Mayor Donna Long, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, Brunswick County Toy Run, Calabash Covenant Presbyterian, Riptide Bins, Studebaker Drivers Club, Roof Doctor of the Carolinas, The Island Market, Coffee Cottage, Dependable Towing, South Brunswick Islands Rotary, and Santa with the Calabash Fire Department.
Before and after the parade, families were able to enjoy many holiday activities set up around the event. Kids wrote letters to Santa at a station filled with paper and stickers. There was also a spot where kids could grab a box of reindeer food to sprinkle on their lawns on Christmas Eve. Hot chocolate was available to help everyone fight off the cold, and cookies and other treats were handed out.
The night ended with the lighting of the town Christmas tree, which glowed bright against the rain. Though the weather was chilly, the whole event felt full of joy and community, showing that the holiday spirit in Clabash is strong.
