On Friday, December 12th, the last spirit day had finally made its way. Students of each grade were assigned to a certain Christmas character to dress up as.
The spirit day themes were all chosen back in November. SGA (Student Government Association) got together as a club, came up with some theme ideas, and made a form for each member to vote on before doing the big reveal to the school of what each day was going to be.
Freshman were to be snowmen (wearing white), sophomores were reindeer(wearing brown), juniors were elves, and of course seniors, got the fun of being Santa or Mrs. Claus.
Many students enjoyed this spirit week. It was a great way to really get into a Christmas spirit as well as get ready and let loose right before exam week. Students also enjoyed the harmony of their grade level and getting to dress alike as their friends.
Christmas is such a fun time and it seems we get caught up in other things around us. Like sports, assignments, friends, clubs, and we forget all the festivities we can take part in to make us feel just like a kid again. Each spirit day had its own sense of magic to it.
It was fun for students to plan an outfit to wear, especially being everyday correlated to Christmas and that’s a typical favorite holiday.
“I love Christmas,” said junior Alexia Gatts. “It’s my all time favorite holiday and each day I was able to dress for it.”
Overall this spirit day was a pretty big hit. The only complaint was that maybe next year teachers were assigned to a certain thing to dress up as well. Each grade got something, but teachers weren’t given anything specific to be.
“I teach both sophomores and juniors,” said English teacher Jyll-Jacoby Burns. “So I didn’t really know what to dress up as teachers weren’t assigned to anything specific.”
